The Playgroup began more than thirty years ago with a few children meeting in a private home. As the number of children grew it moved into the old School Hall at Sale and Davys School. In 1998 it became a registered charity being run by a volunteer committee of parents for the benefit of the children from the village and surrounding area. In 2013 we moved into our new premises in the Village Hall.
It is registered for children from the age of two years and is open during school terms Monday to Friday from 9.00am – 12.00pm. In addition a lunch club operates from 12.00pm til 1.00pm. A team of highly experienced and dedicated staff is led by the Supervisor, Mrs Mandy Moss.
The morning sessions are planned around the Early Years Foundation Stage, (the Government Curriculum for pre-school children) and includes free play and guided activities, imaginative and physical play, singing and music and all these activities take place indoors and outdoors in a secure, friendly environment to encourage all to get involved.
The Playgroup is registered with Derbyshire County Council and is subject to regular, unannounced inspections from OFSTED. The last Ofsted inspection was completed in 2013 and the playgroup was awarded the second highest status – “Good”.
