At Sale and Davys Playgroup the aim is to encourage, happy, contented, confident children who feel safe and secure in their surroundings to learn skills for life in a fun way!
The Playgroup began more than twenty five years ago with a few children meeting in a private home. As the number of children grew it moved into the old School Hall at Sale and Davys School. In 1998 it became a registered charity being run by a volunteer committee of parents for the benefit of the children in the village and in January 2007 it relocated into the new School Hall.
It is registered for nineteen children from the age of two years and six months and is open during school terms Monday to Thursday from 9.00 a.m.- 11.35a.m. A team of five dedicated staff is led by the Supervisor, Mrs Ruth Croft.
The morning sessions are planned around the Early Years Foundation Stage, ( the Government Curriculum for pre-school children) and include free play and guided activities, imaginative and physical play, singing and music and all these activities take place indoors and outdoors in a secure, friendly environment to encourage all to get involved.
The Playgroup is registered with Derbyshire County Council and is subject to regular, unannounced inspections from OFSTED.
More detailed information, including the latest OFSTED Report (November 2008) and details of fees and free places for three and four year olds is available in the Parents Information Booklet which can be downloaded from the Playgroup’s own website www.saleanddavys.co.uk or by phoning 01332 703300 during term time.
