The start of the new Barrow Women’s Institute has been a great success and we now have a number of members. However, we would really like to have more and everyone can be sure of receiving a very warm welcome.
We meet on the first Wednesday of every month in the village hall and the membership is made up of ladies from all ages.
There is a full list of events and speakers booked throughout the year – click the link at the bottom of the page to see all the posts regarding events from the past and for the future, and they will also appear in the calendar to the right. For example, on 2nd September we have “Mother what Have You Done” with Barbara Dakin, on 7th October we have “Silk Painting” with Margaret Brown and on 4th November there is the AGM followed by a Cheese & Wine.
During the last year some of the events we have enjoyed have been visits from:
A Wellness Consultant
An expert on Breast Cancer Awareness
The Assistant Chief Constable
St John’s Ambulance
We have also had a fabulous trip to Nottingham Theatre Royal to see the stage version of Calendar Girls and there are also plans to have more outings including a visit to a German Christmas market.
We are always looking for new ideas and if you have any that you would like to share with us then please come along to one of the meetings. There is no requirement to become a member immediately as you can attend as a visitor for up to three meetings to make sure you like it.
If you want further information then please contact Gay on 01332 701007 or Chris on 01332 702905
