The Sale & Davys PTA are a group of volunteers whose sole purpose is to raise money for the benefit of the school and its children. The PTA holds a number of events throughout the year and the profits made go to amongst other things, parties for the children – the main event being the Christmas party where entertainment and Christmas presents for every child are provided. The PTA also contributes to the Arts, Science and – new this year – Sports week. This generally means that the budget can be expanded to enable off site visits or to bring in local experts to demonstrate their talents and enable the children to experience new and different things.
There is usually a target that the PTA work towards which is something that has been suggested by the school, the children and/or parents. The PTA successfully raised money over the last couple of years which meant that a substantial contribution was able to be added to funding from the School Governing body and a generous donation from East Midlands Airport, for the installation of Bouncy tarmac in the main playground. The children no longer get covered in mud and the climbing frame is not a danger during the wet weather as a nonslip tread has been put on the wood surface.
The major fund raising target is usually decided at the AGM in September. A wish list is put forward and the PTA, together with Mrs Sarah Briggs, the Head Teacher will decide what will be worked towards over the next year. The support that is received from everyone is greatly appreciated and something that is sincerely hoped will continue every year.
